Waiting Period Ends for IBM Acquisition of ISS |

ATLANTA (AP) - Internet Security Systems Inc., a network monitoring and analysis services company, said Wednesday a regulatory antitrust waiting period for its sale to International Business Machines Corp. has expired.
The company said the 30-day waiting period imposed by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements act ended Oct. 2, and that the $1.3 billion deal is expected to close later this month pending stockholder, regulatory and other approvals.
The transaction was announced in August.
Shares of Internet Security Systems added 7 cents to $27.84 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq, while IBM's stock rose $1.38 to $83.03 on the New York Stock Exchange.
