Czech security vendor Grisoft has updated its line of anti-virus software to version 7.5, and also launched its first consumer-oriented security suite.
AVG Internet Security 7.5, which was briefly available in beta last month, includes the company's anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, and firewall components, and will compete with similarly-configured suites from the likes of Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, and Zone Labs. Grisoft's advantage is in pricing: $69.95 for a two-year license to the suite, compared to the same amount for a one-year subscription to either Symantec's or McAfee's product.
Grisoft also updated its AVG Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, and Anti-Spyware titles to matching 7.5 editions, as well as added Linux- and FreeBSD-compatible versions AVG Anti-Virus, AVG File Server, and AVG Email Server for enterprises.
Previously, Grisoft only offered two-year licenses for its security software, but with 7.5, it debuted one-year licenses. The shorter-term license for AVG Anti-Virus, for example, costs $29.95, compared to $38.95 for two years.
